WILF 47,583
it seems to me that your hate of religion stems from bad experience of the church you went to. it seems that it is mostly the catholic church went to as well? I am only a kid but I know when something is real and when something is not and I know that God is real and that we should not question his existence. those who have made remarks against him will find out what it is really about one day. it will be too late then. from now I am staying away from this conversation, no matter anybody says. My love of God is too great to part with. so say what you like but it wont make a difference. just don't forget that God remembers everything that is said and done against him. It's nice to hear a young lad with a faith, good on you lad but I am afraid I have to disagree with some of your post.......the fire and brimstone idea of a god who is both kind and terrible in equal measure just don't sit right with me. I think that what Jesus tried to show us is that light and darkness dwells in every mans soul.......every time you have contact with darkness, your soul gets a little bit darker so you have to fuel the light and push the darkness out. The idea of some kind of terrible retribution is in itself a dark thought and so runs counter to what I believe Jesus was all about........I think rather that man makes his own hell by shunning the light in favour of darkness. Maybe the ultimate punishment is the realisation of this as you take your last breath.......that's a real hell right there Just my mad ponderings

Lol serious question, do you not think that religion is human beings way of coping with the fact most will ponder the question "WHY" and then follow it by "There must be something more" Nope, I think it is a genuine opening of your heart to all that is good and beautiful........a desire to make your day to day life and the encounters you have with others a better experience for you and the people you meet. I never think about the "why" of life, I always think in terms of "why not" ...........as in I never think "why me" I look at things as "why not me" Once you have this mindset you forget sorrow, revenge, anger, hate........you don't let the darkness in. See, I think life is a test.......are you gonna meet it like a man or are you gonna feel sorry for yourself all your life about everything, blame people, blame situations, be angry. As my old man used to say "wipe your mouth and move on"..........and I think that is sort of the message of Jesus too.

The Seeker 3,048
wilf some of your replies have really surprised me......far play. great topic with some real thought out replies men. If all this has done is made few people who previously shunned Christianity just at least think "maybe?" or even made them start on their own path to finding out what they believe then it has been worth it. One thing we do all have in common is hunting! Again that's a question "ahh....you can't be a Christian cause you kill animals" and there my friends starts another discussion

There's nothing in the bible that says you can't hunt, in fact in Genesis it's claimed god gave man domain over all manner of beast to do what he want's with..

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
IMO its a very week person who has any beliefs beyond what has been scientifically proved.Week people are preyed upon by those who know how to manipulate .Its a human trait that there will always be those to follow and those that do the following which was taken advantage of in times gone by to keep the masses in line ,to get them to except their lot in life .Evolution however slow is the only factual thing we have and thats good enough for me .
