WILF 47,344
An idea of mine is that all people who are called to join the priesthood should have had a life before they do, or at least preferential entry to the seminary be given to those who have......IMHO only then will the public start to re-engage with the church. You can't empathise with people who came and lay troubles at your door unless you have been round the block a bit yourself......it's a bit like a politician who has never had a real job. All the best Christian's I have ever met have spent a bit of time wading about in the mire. Just a thought It's a good thought. Keeping the perverts, and sadist out would be another one. ATB That will only happen if you stop using human beings for the job!!...... Edited January 19, 2014 by WILF

Mickey Finn 3,014
If I tell Somone there's a fella in the sky watching their every move, most have no problem believing it....... Tell em that there is wet gloss on that door and they have to touch it just to be sure.... Evolutionist not creationist is the way forward! People explore and test their faith all of the time. Just like they touch wet paint.

All the best Christian's I have ever met have spent a bit of time wading about in the mire. Just a thought Thats the first post you have made on this subject i dont agree with Wilf.......i think a lot of people who fall into a christian life do so in dark times in their own life through desperation, loneliness or simply hitting rock bottom.......does that make them a " better " christian than somebody who " just is "........personally im at the stage where i have more questions than answers but am a determined enough person to pursue it until i ultimately find an answer that suits my thinking.......i have found the type of person you speak of just comes on too strong and will attempt to overpower you with their thoughts as opposed to somebody who " just is "......maybe its a character trait within somebody that has been around the block that they seem in more of a rush to get you to where they are.........i dont know.....but in my journey im finding i can only take these " well lived " people ( for want of a better term ).....in small doses...whereas others seem more able to accept progress is often very slow.
Dosser 52
The 'big bang' is an absurd concept, the 'theory of evolution' is just that . . . .a theory. You need as much faith to believe 'science, as you do to believe the bible.
mattyg 1,862
Science happens in front of our eyes everyday in so many ways.....the evidence is there for everyone to see. Religion claims to happen in front if our eyes everyday in so many ways with no evidence or fact at all. Any religious script (take your pick) is not as old as this or any other planet so creationism is a non starter really. Evolutionists/atheists are more than willing to be converted as long as there is evidence or fact of this mumbo jumbo called religion. Cheers, matt

That's a fair shout mate and looking back at what I have written I think I will stand corrected, I don't suppose it matters who you are or what you have done........I suppose what really matters is who you are now. Fair play, see, you made me think about that one
Dosser 52
I'm talking about this branch of science, where are the 'strong minded free thinkers' to refute my claims that the scientific explanation is all just THEORY ? Nowhere, they wont debate because they are uncomfortable with the fact that no one knows !
