m.r1 7
Now that the season has began and Keepers will be requiring our services even more now because of the foot and mouth preventing Hunts assisting in the Keepers needs. I wonder how many of the terriers we see winning at shows or advertised at stud will be used and fully tested? Will they be fully tested or are they now worth more as a valuable breeding asset for puppy farming. If you do know of any what blood lines are they? Seen some nice looking terriers on the back of this months EDRD that looked like they had done a bit, nothing mentioned about their breeding, any info? . Quote Link to post

Simoman 110
Fortunately there are still small groups of friends and individuals who dedicate their time and skills to keeping working lines going. My hats off to them for their dedication and backbone for keeping the working terrier alive and not selling out for the ££££££££ P.S. The terriers on the rear of EDRD looked very tidy. redrob... 0
i dont think the show winners would test or even try there dogs, to much money to be made for them at stud, lets say if you had the flavour of the month and were charging £ ago to any bitch, some that have never seen work, or have been tryed and he studs 3 bitches aweek i think the money comes first, and to me thats how you loose working ability, on the other hand if the guy works his stud dog and he and his dog are genuine and he studs genuine working bitches then thats fine, worker to worker not show to show. Guest mush
Now that the season has began and Keepers will be requiring our services even more now because of the foot and mouth preventing Hunts assisting in the Keepers needs. Should think the keepers are glad that they cant come out and disturb their birds, ( not of the FM) when I worked as a under keeper the keepers hated the hunts coming, as the land owner stopped the keepers doing their job as they had to leave foxes for the hunt, even one fox will corse a lot of trouble. m.r1 7
Hello Red Rob We all have to make a living to support our families and I am fully aware of the £1000s of pounds that has and can be made FROM KC breeds and Good for them, they feed and rear and look after the dam and pups, put up with sleeples nights etc, but if they want to choose that life of the "breeder show man" good sticj to the KC breeds and shows, try being the big arse there and see it as a challenge to compete on their playing field. And if you do good luck and hopefully it will be a lucrative earner for you. HOWEVER. F**K OFF AND LEAVE THE WORKING TERRIERS ALONE, is not the working terriers ancestory and working qualities worth more than a red rossete, £100, photo in the EDRD and possible the Countrymans weekly and an hour of shit talk time in the ale tent? I know my answer! Quote Link to post
ginga john 268
Now thats some very sensible words, if only a few more would take heed Quote Link to post
redrob... 0
mr1 , i dont under stand your post, if you think im all for showing well im not, what i am for is the working terrier, you say we all have to make a living, i agree, but not by breeding terriers for the show ring, money and rosetts mean nothing, being able to take your terrier out and work him means every thing.
