Outlaw Pete 2,224
I was just walking the Dogs back and heard a twelve bore. Shit myself, frankly, because my hearing's so gone that I had no idea where it had come from. Then, I saw someone, across the river, way down in front of me. He had a gun. He also had a mate, with a gun. And there was a black lab' dashing up and down, obviously having the time of his life. Gloriously sunny day. Not at all cold. And there they were, walking endless meadows, without a care in the world. 'Good luck to them.' I thought. 'This is what it's all about.'
Born Hunter 17,798
You're right Pete, having a walk out on a lovely January morning with a mate or two and dogs, maybe get a few shots and something for tea really does make you feel rich. Not a care in the world, just enjoying life.

Nik_B 3,790
Had a couple of days like that recently, walking hedgerows with good company love it. Had a wander round a farm on Sunday first good frost of the year. Seen a fox, rabbit, hen pheasant and plenty of pigeons who all stayed at range from us. Then came across a squirrel who thought he was hard as nails and started grunting at me, he didn't even run round the tree...just sat there giving me the evil eye so he got two barrels for being cheeky

Nik_B 3,790
Well I was missing everything but I was very sure I hit it but then it started making a right racket and ran a long a bit where I shot it again. Must have been wearing bloody kevlar or I need to go to specsavers It just made me laugh that it started grunting at me like that because I wouldn't have seen it otherwise, all the rest of the squirrels we saw ran like fook before we were in range, one even did the most unbelievable leap from the top of a tree down to the bottom just as I was mounting the gun.
