Guest Scuba1
Is it a Burmese? How big is it? A guy at work brought in a reticulated python a couple of years ago, it was only a small one, about 13 feet but had a "bad attitude". Felt the strengh of 5ft snakes so wouldn't want to upset a big one Yep ,he is one of the few real burmese ( mulurus bivittatus ) left in europe as most have been crossed with other pythons to make them smaller. I had his mother but it was at the time when I came over to Tenerife to expensive to bring her over as well ( about 7000€ at the time ) so I left her with a friend of mine to look after her, but he had to promise me, that, if ever she had eggs,I get one of the little ones. So last year in April, we sorted out the paper work to get a little worm of about 40 cm. over here. It was a nightmare but we got there in the end. He hatched on the 4th of April and on the 22nd he was here with me. Now he is just over 3m long and about 50 lbs. and as long as he is not in th process of shedding his skin, ( every 4 to 6 weeks ) he is as good as gold and I know that he is going to be a big one when he stops growing like a weed. Nothing better for him as to " cuddle" up with me in bed while I am watching a film and he has, when I am home the run of the place, thanks to the climate we have here. His terarium is open when I am home and when he thinks that he gets cold he just goes back in. Two to three time a week, we go out in the garden for a bit of a sun bathe and he loves it, but never goes far away from me. Mind you the dog does stay well clear of him ow when he is out and about. Guest Scuba1
Almost forgot.... when a burmese grows up well they make a skinny retic look like a worm. But they have way better temper. ATB Michael
