buckstalker 0
Hello. First time on the site so greetings to all. Looking for advice please. Is there anyone out there using an FAC rated HW80 in .25 cal? Always fancied having a .25 springer but in the past was put off by the lack of velocity and pellet drop at 12 ft lbs. I have had a .25 put on my FAC at the last variation and now want to give the calibre a try. Am buying an HW80 and would like to ask the following questions. 1) What is the maximum ft lbs I could expect from a professionally RFD tuned gun? I am told I could expect 25lbs-is this about right? 2) Which pellets would be best in this calibre and power/velocity? 3) Any suggestions from personal experience as to where I would go to get a professional job done-one that would be accompanied by a chronograph print out to prove the power the gun was tuned to? I'm really wary of all the do it your self advice on some sites and want to follow the correct procedure I'm totally new to FAC level airguns although I shoot full bore rifles in .243 and 7x57 cal', and would really appreciate any help that members might be able to offer. By the way, the site looks really good. Thanks to all those who contribute and to the administrators who give up their time to run things. __________________ Buckstalker _________________ Quote Link to post
targa 5
Imagine you can use a HW 90 with 700ft/sec (I dont think its possible IMO) with a 30.7 grain barracuda, thats 33 ftlbs. I personaly dont think you can get that with a ( tuned up) hw80. (Not without a pellet traject that looks like a rainbow, and crosshairs that vibrate as an earthquake in Tokio ) Edited September 20, 2007 by targa Quote Link to post
RatSnatcher 0
What sort of distance are you shooting ? Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
about 22 ft lbs in a fac HW80, a Theoben Eliminator will do about 28 max, other wise its precharged Quote Link to post

They were designed to run around that level and shoot nicer than the sub 12ftlbs guns. Edited September 21, 2007 by oxo Quote Link to post
spike 0
I have never considered FAC air to be springers always air. How do they fare? Recoil etc? Quote Link to post

ChrisJones 7,975
There are much better springers to FAC than an HW80. Also your choice of .25 ammo will be limited because of the calibre. Why not run a 77 or a 97 at 16ft/lbs on ticket? Especially with the ranges you're shooting at, I'm surprised you need FAC. Big bald beautiful 1,231
16 ftlbs a waste of a fac slot Quote Link to post
darren m 1
go for it , a .25 running at 23/24ftlb will be as flat or slightly flatter as .22 at 12ftlb but the whack on the bunny will be hugh if kept to 30 - 40 yards. talk to steve pope at v-mach , he does a great tune on fac hw80's .. ChrisJones 7,975
16 ftlbs a waste of a fac slot So is 80ft/lbs if you're shooting at 30 metres. An FAC rated HW80 is a waste of an FAC slot. Not my ticket though.... Quote Link to post
buckstalker 0
Hi all Thanks guys for the comments and advice. In the end have decided to go for a CZ .22 rimie. The costings worked out about the same or slightly cheaper than the HW80 tuned in .25 Buckstalker Quote Link to post

The costings worked out about the same or slightly cheaper than the HW80 tuned in .25 Buckstalker A litlle advice before you buy that rimmie . My (very accurate) 97k .177 Fac go's 870ft/sec, with H&N Barracuda's 10.3 grain he gives me 17.3ft/lbs. It means: penetrate rabbit skull's up to 50 yards. Suitable INSIDE barns and stables Worth a Fac mate. 1 Quote Link to post
