Seems to take on damp to easily for me I only use it in ferret boxes now my lot have vetbed blankets and are rugged up after work and fed a warm meal. Its OK if you have nothing else though I used it for a fair bit but got sick of scraping it off paving slabs and if feeding meat gets stuck to it. A mate who trains greyhounds reckons waxed paper is better.

I use excel bed down , its horse bedding, mixture of straw and shavings with a nice scent to it, its very absorbent with the wetness seeping to the bottom allowing you to remove clumps of it rather than having to empty the whole lot.
