TheRealChuckNorris 42
? If that's a mark levelled against me or the information I wrote down then I'd be grateful if you could elaborate. As far as I'm aware what I typed is correct but I'm more than happy to be corrected / realigned. As it stands it's not a great post that's adding any value to the thread. Quote Link to post
Fawley84 8
listen mate who are you to question me anyway?? the woods where i live are private. and i've been asked to try and trim the magpie population down, there is at least three, song birds what hasn't been seen in over 3 years due to these magpies, they just go from one nest to the next just trashing them, you should know yourself what kind of damage an overrun population of magpie's can do, to the nesting songbirds, and for the record magpie's are classed as vermin, due to the trouble they cause,i'm on private land, so i will happily go about my business and do what's been asked of me,for the appropriate reason's,and by the way! you don't need to tell me what the spirit of hunting is about i've done it since i was 8, may not be the best hunter in the world, and have never claimed to be,but i have respect for nature, and everything around me,i shoot within my own limits and to be quite honest very successful in it,the next time i ask for some advice,id appreciate if you kept your opinions to yourself, this may look like i'm being harsh, but believe me ive met your type before, and to be quite honest,i haven't got time for you's. 1 Quote Link to post

Firstly, I'm not your mate. Secondly your first post didn't read like that. I asked a few questions and didn't make any accusations so calm down. I'm perfectly aware how Magpies are classified and can have an impact on the local birdlife. I've taken my fair share and always ensured that I'm complying with relevant instructions whether issued by the land owner or Natural England. I couldn't give a monkeys if you've met Barack Obama before and what you think of other people's opinions. You posted on an open forum, I commented and of course you will do whatever you wish in the privacy of your woods whether my words are here or not. You keep fighting the good fight. charlie caller 3,654
I think you are on the wrong site mate, you want the l.a.c.s. think that would suit you better, to the OP good luck on the maggies pal, the best decoy I ever used was a stuffed owl, got it from a charity shop years ago, sadly it fell to bits, but the rabbit will work well mate. 1 Quote Link to post

Cheers for the tip, but I'll give them a wide berth. I'm not against what the OP's doing at all, I was just curious if he understood the terms of the General Licence in the context of what he was doing. It was a simple enough question with plenty of scope for a 'yes, that's all considered and taken care of' type response. Some other good threads on here so I won't be straying too far Quote Link to post

XBow 2
How about he saw some of them thrashing/mobbing a song birds nest in the woods. I have the same problem myself. A pair of magpies moved in a niegbours garden. They soon discovered a birds nest with eggs/chicks in it. That was it. I am not an air-gunner, but am considering it. I'd also welcome a few bunnies each weekend !! Edited February 14, 2014 by XBow Quote Link to post
