gaza 512
Are these worthwhile or noveltys that break- looking at ebay now at the all metal foldable ones. Quote Link to post
robbo 868
I have a foldable spade but I only take this out when I'm going somewhere I don't want to be seen carrying a proper spade. Its OK but I wouldn't really recommend them for a days serious ferreting. Quote Link to post

The one 8,530
Just novelty toys okay for raking out some light soil but i wouldn't like to depend on one to dig my ferret out Quote Link to post
B.P.R 2,798
Cant complain at the one i use...the size of a couple of packs of cigs.... Has done me well for what it is... No question that a bigger spade is better... But for an easy pack...quick fix... it does the job... Better than using a fence post.. when you forget the spade for sure!! Quote Link to post
Froudy 40
Had 2 folding spades both broke within a few outings so ive got a small spade now much better Quote Link to post
mhopton 807
Depending on the type, cheap and nasty snap easy , BUT the proper army issue are the dogs bollocks 2 Quote Link to post
GreyRake 108
I'm using a small spade, not a folding though, does the job but takes a little longer, 4 foot + and I'm wishing I had the big one with me. But it sits on the quickset basket on top of the poles nicely and doesn't weigh much at all. Quote Link to post

pointer 543
Last Sunday my hawk had caught two rabbits when the ferret had another bottled up four foot down. The lad that was doing the ferreting for me only had a little shovel with him and it was rocky ground. At two foot it was clear we would need better digging gear or a long wait. Thankfully the ferret showed and just in time as the wind and sleet was minutes away. The little shovels always seem a good idea especially in the dales areas where sets aren't usually too deep but its Sod's law it all goes wrong when you don't have the right tools. Next time I'm putting my own digging gear in the motor, at least I can go back for it if necessary. Quote Link to post
