charlie caller 3,654
Does anyone have experience of Starlight night vision products? Good or bad, I really like the look of the new arrow digital night vision that can be added onto a px adjustable scope, they claim even the entry level scope @ £400 will enable you to shoot foxes clearly @ 200 yards, I know the warrener rates their gear highly, just wondering what people on here had experienced. Gloop 5
Really? Such as? I can see out to 300 yards (measured) on the back of the scope with mine and it is the cheapest one. I rarely use the firefly laser, I mainly use a nightmaster ir as it is brighter and cleaner than any laser They are big and heavy but you can put them on a big rifle. If they break you can get them fixed. When I was looking to buy I couldn't find anything to match it. I wouldn't change it and it has now bowled over a couple of hundred rabbits. Well it could be smaller and lighter and cheaper of course. Lol I have a bracket on each rifle so I can choose what to go out with. works for me. Quote Link to post

Not really interested in the tubed gear, its the new digital unit that takes my fancy, I would want a demo at night before parting with any cash, but if the claims are right, a clip on unit for around the £400 mark sounds very tempting. pestcontrol121 11
I think there is a lot of people sitting on the fence waiting for a review on the New Arrow digital unit, it's like most things, digital units have been flooding the market by companies and every one needs to do the same, personally I don't think its going to be any better than what's out there already , I know of two people in the UK that do a lot of developing work on digital units and if this Arrow was something special their would know, but anyone can be wrong and it is possible for the Arrow to be all what starlight have said and more. charlie caller 3,654
Point taken, and I am one of those on the fence, what attracts me to it is it can just be slipped onto a px day scope and hey presto, instant night vision, I guess the only thing to do is wait and see how the write ups go, but if it is as good as they claim, for the money, it will be well worth looking into. ianm 2,594
Digital n/v is only as good as the camera used and near eye display, for £400 i wouldn't expect a lot. It all depends on what and where you are shooting and of course budget. For add on currently i would be looking at pvs14 or envis both gen 3, but n/v is horses for courses and what suits one may not suit another. Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
I am not that bothered if I get night vision or not, but if as stated you can clearly shoot foxes out to 200yards with the entry level model, then I am interested in one, I would want to see for myself before splashing out, so if its crap then I wont bother, anyway lets wait and see what kind of reviews they get when they hit the market. But one thing is certain, I certainly wont be shelling out three grand on a pvs14 or envis ect, not to shoot bloody foxes, I would have to be doing it for a living to go to that expense. Ian i use a pvs-14 but use a digital system on a screen in my 4x4 for spotting and yes the pvs-14 is the dogs but as a spotter the digital unit wired to a screen is the dogs aswell, i don't like digital units that i have to put to my eye too as it gives me a headache , its like watching TV a foot away from the screen, the digital needs more IR to get distance which the pvs- 14 doesn't but the pvs-14 is a lot more expensive. As for the camera board its down to where it was purchased, as i said i know two people that do development work on digital units and some of the camera boards they get are pence or a pound or two and are as good as anything on the market, the eye piece is the most expensive bit followed by the front lens. Alsone 789
No expert on this but one of the most important aspects as I understand it is the Generation (Gen) of the intensifier used). As I understand it, the higher the generation the better and more reliable and longer lasting they are. Unless its changed, they used to go from Gen 1 -3. Gen 1 being the cheapest and 3 the best. charlie caller 3,654
But as its digital night vision we are talking about here, tube numbers are irrelevant. Quote Link to post
