bigbailey 90
If you care enough for your dogs they should be allowed to sleep in warm safe environment, inside or out. To keep a dog outside with no warmth will only give you a dog that takes longer to heal and more susceptible to illness. Live in or out it isn't hard to give the dog warmth Its just lazy t#ats. bird 9,943
Course you want a decent coat baw.. If a dogs got a shit coat keeping it out side in sub zero wont improve that... Some people kennels are better and warmer than folks houses Its a olde School mentality "hardening them up"... Yes some will have better coats and adapt to colder climes.. Some wont and you would have to put coats on them.. If your dogs up and about for hours working in all weathers they get used to it.. Its better to bed them down in warm conditions after a hard days graft than to put them out in a draftee cold kennel.. Each to there own.. Mine sleep out.. After a hard session mine sleep indoors with the heat on my kennels have heat lamp + wax shred paper, so there not cold+ no draughts, both have good coats on them and deff get a better coat outside noticed aswell when the weather from say sep-oct the get thicker coats , so been out side deff improves there coat fact. Buck got hell of a thick coat on him I don't think he feelsthe cold wet to honest, he pulled his heat lamp down lol , but in saying all this the wimp don't like water streams or pools, he want go in only if he got to lol I wouldn't want a dog under my feet all day anyway, they need there own space to chill as we like to . I know lots of people keep dogs in and dogs work brill for them, just carnt see the point of it when there just as happy outside , I think we forget there animals not humans and don't need to be personified Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Because . . . . I quite like spending time with my dogs. It's that simple mate, I'm sat here now, one is curled on the sofa next to me, and the other is chewing a bone in front of the fire. . . . Other than that it's just security. 3 Quote Link to post
bigbailey 90
Its strange when people react with they are dogs so like there own space, I know with my pack the only dog that doesn't like remaining with the pack is the old girl, who likes her quiet time. The rest of my dogs would spend 24/7 with me if they could. You don't find many pack animals that just want there own space.... But suppose not every dog is the same. Quote Link to post

Inot a dog lover never have been one to be honest, I just keep them to do a job I suppose more like a tool really my wife goes feckin mad at me the way iam , but its the way iam. Bryn been great rabbit dog as you know had loads of rabbits with dayand night, but in the6 1/2 years ive had him ive never liked his temp really, prob that's why he still here good at his job , Buck similar temp to Bryn to be honest which I don't like either, but you pick your pup and hope for the best with temp, maybe its hearding type dogs don't suit my personality but if they do the job in the field I can live with .there temps. Ideation 8,216
Interesting Ray. I've always had dogs around me mate, since I was born. Usually multiple, most out, but always one in, often a retiree. I get on with animals, and dogs in particular, much more than people. And dogs seem to like me. There have only been a couple of years when I haven't had them, and it was very lonely, and I got into a fair bit of trouble I honestly couldn't imagine not having one in the house, it just wouldn't feel like a home. Saying that I don't like manic dogs in the house, and I don't like dogs playing or making noise inside really. The whippet is ideal to be honest, you wouldn't know he's here most of the time. Also he is a good guard dog. 1 Quote Link to post
Snifferboy 659
I keep my dogs in the house for a few different reasons; 1, I like to know that they are safe indoors, especially with all the thieving that has been going on. 2, Even with 3 kids, the house feels empty without a dog indoors, I hated it when I ran my first dog over and the house was empty. 3, They aren't bad guard dogs and let me know when someone is snooping around outside. Which is also good when I'm working away as it is a bit of security for my wife. Dogs indoors suit me better but if I had anymore than the 2, I would have to put them in the Kennel or my wife leave me! Every dark cloud…... Quote Link to post
