Ideation 8,216
Aye, some dogs are just mental. It's the kind that will jump off a bridge into a fast flowing river, because a duck just floated down. . . . . or jump out of moving vehicles etc. Every time my little b*****d tried to play tag with some of the local forests residents. . . I wonder when he will decide that being kicked and knocked to f**k isn't appealing any more Quote Link to post

dytkos 17,818
Then again, some quarry are just sooooo appealing to some mutts.A rabb close to the hedge and a dash in, miss and back out again.Other stuff, through ANYTHING without a thought of survival, injury or consequences. My 6 1/2 year old is semi retired now Cheers, D. 1 Quote Link to post

Especially if you only have 1 running dog like myself, you can end up missing half the season ! 1 Quote Link to post
paulf 820
i agree with Qbgrey about a dog that's game but do you really want a dog to kill itself just for a rabbit or two ? I saw a collie grey a few years ago that would crash hedgerows after rabbits one time it hit a cut off branch that left a hole in its chest that you could of put your fist in second time it hit a tree stump as it crashed through another this time it didn't come out alive ..so what im saying I would prefere to see a few get away than have to bury my dog..jmo.. 1 Quote Link to post

lucky 578
Most of the best dogs I've seen have been the ones that will risk everything for a kill, the type that are constantly striking, but they can incur a lot of injuries on certain land, and I've seen a few not make the veteran stage of life but at least they died with there heart racing full of adrenalin, and not had the chance to suffer old age and all that comes with it. 2 Quote Link to post
