Williampalmer 20
You can never be 100 percent on weather you've cleared a warren of all it's occupants without gassing, but when you feel you've had your fill from that warren then move on Quote Link to post
vanman1 411
Me personaly depending on the size of the bury,i run it through with x amount of jills. Normaly start with 1 or 2 and see how it goes if i hear the magic rumble leave them to it see what they push out and take it from there.Sometimes they just bolt and bolt ive even had rabbits bolt whilst iam still netting up!!Evey day/warren is different just keep going until your happy that your ferrets have done the best they can. Could be 5 mins could be all day! 1 Quote Link to post
nighthunter. 13
sometimes if theres more than one rabbit in the ferret will go from one two another, same as you say sometimes theres workers and shirkers as I call them, they have lil scratch at there back get bored and come out no good that Quote Link to post

Williampalmer 20
Iv got a Jill that's blind, she works fantastically, I think it's because she relies completely on her hearing and smell, which I think are both heightened by the fact she's blind, she'll bolt rabbits that others fail to. 1 Quote Link to post

adam87 31
My polecat hob always goes down first. His quick and pushes out any loss rabbits! Then once my polecats done and out I put my albino hob down. His much more thorough and spends a lot more time searching and pushing the leftover rabbits! ones his done i'm happy the warren is clear works for me Quote Link to post
Andrew Beirne 78
I like to put my hob a nd jll down a the same time obviously give the jill a few minutes then him it works and she will always be much faster than him ..it was last week i was digging down to my hob and i got a mark of 4 on his and 2 on hers thought a shes only going back through it but turned out she had one dead in a stop end and another backed up and he then had one dead in a tube ...but i do find hobs more thorough and will stick at the bunnys till they move or they kill em Quote Link to post

Mole man Kent 26
Not always down to the ferret mate! You need to think of the bury structure! Some are going to have bump ends and some wont. Your polecat might of be giving the run about and leaving the bunny at the bump end because the thrill of the chase might of been more attractive than trying to bolt one stubborn rabbit. Sirius 1,391
I hate a ferret that stays longer than 20 mins or so. Most warrens I work go 10+feet. I often find it takes a season or so before ferrets really go deep. Edited January 9, 2014 by Sirius Quote Link to post
