Born Hunter 17,763
Lab, can't you get a credit card? Just get a grand limit and just stick ya diesel on it and pay it off every pay day. That's what I did a year before I applied for a mortgage. You should be able to get a credit card with a low limit mate.
Nik_B 3,790
Start with a mobile phone...After a few months try a credit card with a very high Apr and pay it off full amount for a few months. The problem with credit is they only want to give it to people who don't need it.

I tried to get my overdraft from 600 to 1000....DECLINED!! Funny when I look back but when I was about 21 I was at Celtic Park and this wee hottie wanted to set me up a Celtic credit card. Never had a credit card but she was hot and it had the Celtic badge on it. I had saved up about £6k in the bank and the paperwork dropped through my door and they had declined me.....hahahah ffs!!!! mackay 3,358
A credit card is just a tool and if you know how to use it, it can work to your advantage.
Outlaw Pete 2,224
Cant get anywhere without a credit score ..... everyone got something on credit I haven't got a 'Credit Score', what ever that is. I have absolutely nothing on credit. I owe no one anything. I ask nothing of anyone. What ever this 'credit score' thing is, it just smacks of one more way of them controlling you. What is it; You have to take their loans / pay their interest, just to show you're a good little soldier. Then they'll feed you more loans / interest payments? FFS ..... That's terrible Then again? I haven't seen a human being or heard ones voice in a week. Not so much as a shadow in a passing motor. This doesn't bother me in the least. Even my medical records state I'm a Recluse. I guess this makes me seem like some sort of a head banger? Crazy old coot who's hidden himself away from the 'real' world? Amusing. My world's real enough. I simply refuse to be sucked into Their world of illusion and endless penury. F**k 'em. And their " Credit Scores "

04fox8 168
It's fearsome what they will offer you once they know you. About 10 years ago we were looking at moving house, so, off we goes to see Mr Banker. At the time, I was paying what I thought was a sh*t load of cash on a £40k house. Walked out of there with the offer of an ADDITIONAL £200K!! MENTAL! When we did finally move house, the payments were still scary to me, and that wasn't on a fraction of their £200k! Know a young couple who are up to their necks right now. Not got 2 brass farthings to rub together, despite the guy working Offshore. But, she has always got the latest and gratest hair cuts, skimpy gear, and flash!

walshie 2,804
I don't think credit is a tool of the devil. You just have to be a bit savvy how you use it. How would anyone ever own their own house without getting a mortgage? You're hardly likely to save up £200k.
the_stig 6,614
i wanted to pay in a large sum of money from the sale of some property and land to hsbc i bank with lloyds but did`nt want all my eggs in one basket i wanted to set the account up for the money to be paid in -- i was happy to have either a savings or cb account they turned me down because i had a low credit rating even though i had written proof of a completed sale ...
