I'm sorry Scott but im the official clootie maker !! ?I'm no getting the clootie a bad name with your shite nobody will have any teeth left lol. Ill be takin a roll of gold award winning haggis and some black pudding so keep out if it or you'll no be getting high lol ?

Pigs are heavy as feck Kev mate, so the spit would have to be pretty hard core. Also usually they now just bake them in ovens and lay them out on trays, so not quite sure how you would turn a 70 kilo animal with a metal bar shoved through successfully by hand, and get an even cooking job done, without it all falling apart or giving yourself a hernia.

 

Probably easier to just use the oil drum to make a big barbie and sausage the pig :laugh:

Some friends done a lamb (not the same I know) down the woods on a home made spit roast, it was rigged up to the back sprocket of a womans shopper bike, looked well mad max. It would have been even better if it didnt keep spitting the chain off.

Could be doable with a lamb, but I think the average weight, of even a good lamb, would be around 35-40 kilo, probably 25-30 kilo dead weight. My pigs kill out at around 60 kilo dead weight. . . . you'd have things like tyson by the time it was cooked!
