Lab 10,979
Never been a fan of the college route mate...you'll have learned a lot more skills doing it hands on. Only benefit of college is your mingling with the correct folk to open up doors for you. The way I see it is you ask around and see what happens...you may get lucky and somebody takes a chance. I can't see an underkeepers wage being any good for you. There is the ideal situation where you walk into a top class job and stay there fir the next 30 years and there's a possibility that you land a good job but the landowner is a knobhead and ditches you after 1 year. These are the chances you either take or not. I don't suppose there's any way you could speak to your boss at the moment and ask if you could rent the place your on the now. Agree a number of shoot days for the rent of the place and sell days commercially to make your profit.? At 4000 or more poults there is a great chance of making money. 1 Quote Link to post
STRANGER 948
There are countless lads who have went the college route and only a fraction get jobs from it. If its financially viable stay where you are and make contacts/put the feelers out all the time and you will have a better chance of landing a decent job. Also watch where you go from here, going from a small friendly syndicate to a full on commercial place will be like a drop in the ocean. Often your no more than someone else's bitch and there's only so long you can put up with that shit before it gets to you. 1 Quote Link to post

Good advice lab , but make sure that if you do go it alone you keep yourself out of the reach of the dreaded VAT man . Once you turn over in excess of around £70,000 you are going to have to start charging vat . Get some advice , and do your sums first !!! Quote Link to post
