Hot Meat 3,109
Are you mixing it with meat?
perthshire keeper 1,239
What is a better food? to be fair just about any thing IMO! i now use docter johns gold for when i cant get meat but thats very very rare, its just a standby, the best thing to do is ask a butchers for pet mince,,,its about 20p a lb up hear and i buy £30 a time and freez it...but then i also have half a minced cow in the freezer too lol
lDannyGl 25
Yeah I'm mixing it with meat, what is a better dry food and where can I get it from?
Hot Meat 3,109
If your feeding enough meat and only adding a wee bit of dry food I wouldn't worry too much about it. Could even use pasta or rice veg or bread with meat aswell. Most pet shops, horse feed stores and lots if other places sell better dry food. But like I said if it's only getting minimal ammount of dry as I think dogs should, then don't get too hung up on what's best. If that is all you can source then use it. But remember a varied diet is always best and dogs do best on mostly meat imo

I can get tripe for free, should I use that or not?
Hot Meat 3,109
Lots of folk swear by tripe and iv got mates who's dogs do well on it but it's not there only food. I never use it just because I can't fetch it as easy as I can lamb beef and chicken. Everybody feeds dogs slightly diffrent pal and the trick is to try and find what works for you and the dog. Price and availability are a big part if your skint. Get begging around butchers and places or try find a local supplier of meat, it's usually cheap as long as you can buy a fair bit and freeze it Edited January 4, 2014 by Hot Meat
Country Joe 1,411
Tripe has less protein than Beef, Lamb, or Chicken, ive seen that Wag in Pets at home, its been on offer for months, im trying CSJ dog foods for the first time as a mixer with raw, looks okay, stools have been firm and £13 a bag. That Wag may be okay as a mixer, but I wouldn't use it myself.

Its been getting decent reviews they have a few different types, just google CSJ dog foods you can request a trial sample, They dont spend a lot of money on adverts and use agents, if you put in your postcode the nearest agent with contact number will come up. If so what dry food?
