I'm guessing all the folks asking why have a few kids, Maxhardcore has pretty much answered that, saves me.

The amount of kids I have?, none and I don't see why I should bankroll other folks.

The population thing is a bit misleading IMO.. How many times have you heard it said that we live in an ageing society? We live at a time where medical science and medicine is increasing lifespan. This can't go on forever, it will plateau out at some point and we'll get a real sense of how much the population is growing. Their will come a time when the death rate will shoot up, and I bet when that time comes it will be presented in the press and general media as some sort of crisis!

I'd like to see the return of Grammar schools. Comprehensive schools are utterly shite unless you live is the very best areas, even then they're not all that.

 

Return? They never went! Just not allowed to build any more. But I agree, role them out nation wide. Lincolnshire was a Grammar hotspot, I was too strong willed and stubborn to take my eleven plus and my folks wouldn't force me. LOL.

 

But I like the concept. That said how many kids get into Grammar schools off the back of private tuition and not through natural ability? Comprehensive/Grammar argument.

 

 

 

There used to be 1200 now there are 168 and some of those aren't selective!

 

By the way this argument about private tuition being unfair is just the sort of stuff Clegg and Millipede come out with as if it is something only the rich can have. You can tutor your own kids if you have the burning desire to see them do well and many do. Some of those Upper Middle Class parents that think throwing money at kids is a substitute for not spending time with them.

The reason we had immigration was because we weren't producing enough children so I don't think penalizing Brits who have kids is right.

It is the sort of thing a lefty would come out with and I don't particularly subscribe or care about that argument but I do see a bit of truth to it, fact being two parents who are no better at actually parenting but different ends of the income spectrum will respectively be able to and not be able to pay for private tuition. But I couldn't give a toss about that anyway, life aint fair tough shit, I don't want to live in a society where you can't use whatever you have to give your kids a better chance than everybody elses.

Seem to be going off in a tangent here mate. I thought we were talking about the mine villages after thatcher closed them? My reference to the poles is to show the lengths some people from other countries will go to find work whereas here, it's all doom and gloom if a factory closes and the next ones 10 mile away.

if both factories were identical in what they did however if not it would matter not if it was one or a hundred miles away and they had 10.000 jobs if you have not got the skills there after then your not going to get a job there, boils my piss when folk say there's thousands of jobs, well remove the part time, the job shares, the duplicated ones, the one day a month agency ones, the ones you do not have the skills for, the economically daft ones (ie the ones where it will cost more to get to than you will earn) and the jobs that are actually available suddenly becomes a whole lot smaller

Max, with all due respect I think you are missing the problem by a country mile.......humans ARE part of the natural Eco system, have been for millions of years.

We have our place in things......it's the constant thirst for more "things" that is raping the planet.

The problem isn't the people, it's the mindset........we are conditioned to think that more stuff makes us better humans!

IMHO, it doesn't .......it makes us worse.

We are emotionally and spiritually in poverty because of it, a return to a more natural, simple way of life is what is needed IMHO

While i agree we are overpopulated.........you wouldnt even be talking about such extremes as limiting the amount of children English people in England have if it wasnt for the overspill of people we have taken on over the last 30 odd years.......so in your view everyday English people should be penalised for the mistakes of our governments...........thats cutting off the headache by cutting off the head in my book i couldnt disagree with you more Max.
