snizle06 202
From what I have seen from terriers with this title is massive variation. I would say you would need to do your homework to get the result your looking for going down that route. Quote Link to post
fat man 4,741
As Snizle already has said, choose wisely.Plenty of lads breeding bullxrussell but are they from a working background.Plenty of lads think just because they have a good working JR bitch that a staff or pb across her is bound to produce good workers but it dont work that way,as a lot of the time the bull used is not suitable. The 1st job is to get a decent working russell that you can trace back a bit dog or bitch then the next is the bull whichever type you want to use, same thing again make sure its from tried and tested workers.Sometimes the 1stx will come too big but not always, your best bet is a 3/4 russell 1/4 bull and there should be no problem size wise, they were a great little terrier years back. 3 Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
Over the years I've seen some very good dogs of this type BUT i'd be forever wary about buying a pup for earth work with one half of its blood from a dog and ancestry that has never seen a hole. Real working terriers are difficult enough to produce but think on about how many in a litter of this type may not go to ground... Best of luck. Quote Link to post
fat man 4,741
Fatman why stop using them? 1st terrier i ever had was a bullxrussell back in the mid 70s and i had them about me until late 80s early 90s.The black dogs came on the scene around me in the early 80s and sort of took over so it was very hard to try and keep a good standard of bullxrussell going especially when there was nothing within miles about to breed from.I have at the minute a very good bullxpatt [staffx] that is gone 5 year old and a lot of game dug with him.He from a well tested staff bitch that was dug to on several occasions and a 7 year old patt dog that had nothing to prove. She had 3 pups,2 dogs 1 bitch, both dogs worked and bitch got killed on the road while out exercising. We bred same bitch last year again and she died the night before she was due to whelp[choked on a bit of meat] so that finished that,in pup to a very good patt dog. 1 Quote Link to post
