AXUM 255
The Wheeler type line i know of is a far from timid but then again the man is quiet and unassuming.Sometimes ,just sometimes the owner can bring about a wreck of a dog without meaning to .The Sparticus line is im afraid all but gone now though a lot of lads mention the name when talking breeding . when i got my dog he was six month.. and he was the same.. i never beat my dogs his daughter out of jagd terrier is complete opposite, just like her mom very out going, people friendly, loves kids loves everyone.. and acts like her mom when hunting, strong prey drive, good nose and very energetic, iike they say no off button lol his daughter 1 Quote Link to post

sull85 36
I had a patterdale APPARANTLY from spartacus lines and few other names, got him from 8 weeks old.. Was fine up untill 4 months old then he became very nervous to the point where you couldnt even road walk him, very scared of people etc... BUT when i used to take him out down the fields he was completly opposite . Very head strong. Once on a scent he coulmt be called off and wouldnt come out of cover/bush. I have to agree with an earlier thread i read somewhere he was really a one man dog Quote Link to post
downsouth 7,306
To be fair all this timidness or nervousness is something that ive noticed a lot more in the last few years and has always been dogs bred by other people out of dogs being called wheeler bred.I can honestly say it wasnt something i really noticed in any of the dogs i saw that came off of Mr Wheelers yard when he was breeding his little family of dogs. And the dogs i bred using two different studs from Mr Wheelers dogs were very bold and confident. 1 Quote Link to post
steve R 405
Seen a few wheeler blooded dogs , and yes they can be timid ...timid is a bit of an understatement mate I've seen a few that crawl around on their belliesand p**s themselves when you try to touch them.I've also seen them hiding under their beds trashed when you look in their kennels. Ive been to derricks kennells didnt see any timid dogs there . Edited January 4, 2014 by steve R Quote Link to post
tictac 218
Ive been to derricks and have seen timid dogs bred by him not so long ago Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Used Wheeler stuff for an outcross several times and i hate a timid dogs .It seems we are talking about two different lines here as what the man bred was very bold ,outgoing and early starters when in the right hands .What needs to be remembered is that once a line leaves a mans yard ,unless its put back to similar then all traits are changeable .Not many lads do the decent thing and consult the breeder as to whats best over any given line and chuck any old black thing on it just because it works. This is why there are those out there that will only part with pups under conditions and i wholeheartedly agree with this . 5 Quote Link to post

DW does not have any of that family anymore I believe ! Would I be right ? Quote Link to post
