mhopton 807
Well there were nothing on tv so thought I'd take blade for a lamping trip again, Left mine at 22:30 still nice and windy all be it very wet but I was looking forward to it And so was blade, it was just me & him against the world lol, we arrived at 23:25 nice steady drive as blade is still travel sick some times but a lot better than before. I got booted up battery belt on and set off, I decides to go a diffrent way around tonight and so pleased I did . first lamp round counted 3 well out and 7 up the hedge ,one was sitting tight just of the hedge ,blade seen it so I let slip and blade was on it and a nice clean pick up and brought it back, give him loads of praise which he loves, on we went and one was in the middle still and a good 50 yards Way and very twitchy so I slip B just to see what and how he takes it , he takes his time like a canter soon as rabbit moved he was full belt and that's 2 out of 2 miss't the next one but got N03 on a steap bank which he took in mid flight 'awesome to see anyway got two more so had five in the bag . Had a little smoke brake and let B get his breath back before we set of back to the van , the fields were proper water logged and impossible to keep the noise down but we must of been doing some thing right as when I opens the gate in the last feild it slams shut B nearly pulls me arm of so span and turns lamp on and a rabbit is running full belt towards te middle of the field , slip B and was on it in know time, what a course must of gone on for what felt like 1 hour about 5 mins in reall time , the rabbit turns him inside out B gives a little yelp of and a last burst strikes it ,number 6 to me that's very good going for a seven month old pup on his second outing , he had plenty left in him to ,he miss't 5or 6 but never seemed to bother him as he was bouncing around full of his self and refused to get in the van to go home pmsl real proud of him ATB mark Quote Link to post

mhopton 807
I am believe me the thing is I'm not pushing him or forcing him to hunt all I do is take for nice long walks and ferreting with me so no training really , I've had good and very very good lamping dogs in the past and blade is using his head and judging his runs perfect, and hand on hart last night was his second time out 1st was a big surprise to get one but six on his second over the moon,I should say also and rabbitcatcher1 will back me up as we very good mates and hunting partners , blade is more like house dog family pet soft as muck type tbo thought he wouldn't make a hunter but how wrong iam . Even through the day he's marking sets and has done from 31/2 month caught his first rabbit when we give him a dropper from a stone wall Just so pleased at with him and myself atb mark Quote Link to post
