bugg 84 Posted January 1, 2014 Report Share Posted January 1, 2014 Well, finished work this morning at 10.30 and it was still hammering down, nearly got the 410 and set up to do some dove shooting in the barns but thought bugger it I'm going anyway. My boss had mentioned that some of the off ground at ******** may be worth a try, so I loaded up jack (nz hunt a way) and Charlie(springer) and the ferts of coarse,I left my youngest gill at home because she's still a bit flighty and I had no idea of what ground I was about to do as iv never been there ferreting before, the ground was wet! New drilled beans one side and a horse paddok the other and full of holes right up the hedge, unfortunately not suitable for longnets I didn't vrealise how long net lazy I'd got lol I only done probably 20% of what was there as it was really awkward trying to do either side of the fence myself so I was a bit selective, jack was marking extremely well as usual and Charlie who iv really only introduced to ferrerting this season as he is my gundog and and wanted to keep his focus on that but I thought I'd give him a go and I'm glad I did, he caught 3 today and just comes trundeling over to me with them unscathed for me to dispatch, I'm happy for him to come as long as it stays that way, so nets up nets down covered in mud and slipped over about a dozen times to the amusement of drivers passing by I ended up with 11 but rather embarrassingly missed at least 20! And with all those bolts not 1 lY up! Happy as with that as I think digging would be nearly impossible because there is a collapsed wall sort of underneath all of it, but what really struck me today and it was quite a moment really and with it in mind of another post I read I had become obsessed with good numbers and missing rabbits, but today it didn't matter, to be stood in torrential rain on my own with my 2 dogs was bloody lovely, I am going to go back there as soon as because a couple of them had young in so the sooner the better and with a bit of help and now I know what the deal is out there will hopefully clear the majority,(it is crop protection there after all) but for today I'm happy with my achievement, had some great quality time with the boys and ferts and got my ferreting fix to boot, If someone wants to come there with me send me a pm, happy new year to you all, sorry for no oics but along with my fags my phone is on the wood burner drying out even tho it never left my pocket haha Quote Link to post
