why stainless? i have mild steel and i bet they are over 4 seasons old and the net was somebody else's before i began to use it.. plus they weigh more.

stainless would reflect so i would need to paint it..

i will make you a set of mild steel if you wish.. choice of 2 size ring.. 3.5 or 5 inch no cost..

Thats a grand offer smithie. Thank you. Why stainless, well Ive a pair of small stainless (2.5 ring) made out of 6 or 7mm bar on a hand made 25yd and its plenty light enough and I was just thinking longevity, stainless dont rust. I also think Ive got a bit of a stainless fetish - all my carp banksticks and bars, bits and pieces are all stainless lol. But.. how can I turn down a gifted pair, on 3.5 rings please. Give me a PM about details to pay for the postage bud.

Happy new year all!   I thought i would show the two most recent nets i have made, they were finished off a few weeks ago but my computer had a STD which prevented me from putting them up with the

If you can get your hands on some nice steel billets you can drill a hole at an angle so the bar lays flatter, makes the initial bend much easier. this is a set of 6mm 3" ring with a 9" post

Bob pm a name and adress to send to. Made and powder coated just need posting

Nothing quite like a hand knitted net. Not sure if i could face knitting 2 at once. Do you make your own pins??

Regards

Les

I wouldn't recommend it, painfully slow.

I do make my own pins mate out of mild and stainless, there not always perfectly circular but they do a good enough job for me  . Mr Goodcat.

not sure i could ever face doing another. i dont get around to repairs..lol

that football pitch is narrow..

It's a pitch for toddlers mate and i think it's tapered as well,, just to add to the confusion.

20/9 double strand 4.5 mesh...wow ! now that is a lovely killing net . Well done Mr Goodcat. pm sent regarding pics.. ;)

Thank you for that Mr Wilkes  . I get on with that type of net really well but when its saturated you can really feel the difference compared to a lighter single stranded one. Cheers. Mr Goodcat.

I find it tough getting time to knit one net let alone two. I've got a nice little machine coming to me in the spring time which should knock out the rings for pins in no time. ive got a nice little ring roller here that i use, it'll take up to 8 mm but i prefer 6 mm in stainless. i'll get a photo up if i can find one :icon_redface:

It can be tough, some years can be tougher than others for me.

Sounds like a nice machine mate. Mine consists of a scaffold tube with a hole drilled in it, brute force, a grinder and the arc welder... A bit crude but it works all right for me.

I think the pins in the photo are 5mm or 6mm i cant remember but all of my mild steel ones for a decent size net are 6mm. Mr Goodcat.
