New Year New Nets. (Well Sort Of).

Happy new year all! :bye:

I thought i would show the two most recent nets i have made, they were finished off a few weeks ago but my computer had a STD which prevented me from putting them up with the pics, but after a trip to the computer doctor all is well now.

The net's are constructed from 20/15 and 20/09 (double stranded) spun polyester, the 20/09 was made for someone after he had a look at the one i own and it's making and deadline was agreed during a rather heavy cider session :hmm: . This is the first time i have made two longnets at the same time and to be honest it will probably be the last  .

The nets are 4.5" mesh, 13.5 meshes deep and have 100% slack in each. I was going to weigh the nets with the pins on but as you can tell from the photos they had the initial set up in torrential rain and me getting wet through to me briefs <_< so getting an accurate weight was not going to happen that day  . Here are some photo's i could take in the very short break when the rain temporarily eased off.

If you can get your hands on some nice steel billets you can drill a hole at an angle so the bar lays flatter, makes the initial bend much easier. this is a set of 6mm 3" ring with a 9" post

Bob pm a name and adress to send to. Made and powder coated just need posting

why stainless? i have mild steel and i bet they are over 4 seasons old and the net was somebody else's before i began to use it.. plus they weigh more.

stainless would reflect so i would need to paint it..

i will make you a set of mild steel if you wish.. choice of 2 size ring.. 3.5 or 5 inch no cost..

Nothing quite like a hand knitted net. Not sure if i could face knitting 2 at once. Do you make your own pins??

Regards

Les

I wouldn't recommend it, painfully slow.

I do make my own pins mate out of mild and stainless, there not always perfectly circular but they do a good enough job for me  . Mr Goodcat.

not sure i could ever face doing another. i dont get around to repairs..lol

that football pitch is narrow..

It's a pitch for toddlers mate and i think it's tapered as well,, just to add to the confusion.

20/9 double strand 4.5 mesh...wow ! now that is a lovely killing net . Well done Mr Goodcat. pm sent regarding pics.. ;)

Thank you for that Mr Wilkes  . I get on with that type of net really well but when its saturated you can really feel the difference compared to a lighter single stranded one. Cheers. Mr Goodcat.

I find it tough getting time to knit one net let alone two. I've got a nice little machine coming to me in the spring time which should knock out the rings for pins in no time. ive got a nice little ring roller here that i use, it'll take up to 8 mm but i prefer 6 mm in stainless. i'll get a photo up if i can find one :icon_redface:

Thats something I`m not down with yet is the numbers (20/9) its a bit like F numbers in photography for me at the moment

Nice nets by the way. Where do you get your pins from bud?

Cheers Bob. The site is quite handy as it states the thicknesses next to the twines.

I do make my own mate... or try at least  . Mr Goodcat.

Nice one bud. I've just finished a 12 yard stop net out of spun poly twine with 4.25" full mesh, I added a bottom selvage mesh. After than I went back to more to my long net got 67 yards done so far.

Cheers. There's light at the end of the tunnel then mate! Mr Goodcat.

Quality nets there Mr.G. . real nice material to use plus good killing mesh . You will need to get full of the Cider more often

one of these days I will get the needles loaded again and get this 20/06 double strander made.

Ta very much Netrigger :victory: ... No i feckin won't  , as soon as i woke up and gathered my thoughts the next day.... I knew i done something silly :icon_redface: ... Again :boogy: .

Good luck with the 20/06 when the time is right mate ;) . Mr Goodcat.
