morton 5,368
The biggest problem faced by the bullx type of lurcher is often the nugget holding the lead, dogs are bred for the image rather than work ethic.A decent bull type lurcher will suit a certain type of hunting lifestyle, this hunting lifestyle is not for the some but suits others.Decent uns are just that and certainly serve the purpose they were bred for,the dross that's bred to suit the image of the owner is the main reason bull types receive so much negative flack,if these dogs never strayed from genuine working kennels, money and image fecked that up,then they would be more readily accepted for what they are and what can be achieved from them.Ive owned them,id never ever have another, firstly because my type suit my hunting lifestyle better, secondly the twats that own and abuse the image for their ego. 9 Link to post

the big chief 3,099
My bull sleeps with my dh x and are fine together I was the same as you till I owned one admittedly she is full on and is nippy for a big dog but I think they just lack a little pace for me as I have had fast dogs from day one so when I breed her it will be to my beddy whippet gh that should do the trick with the pace and shouldn't be as full on as her but in general with the x they have there uses they can and do make handy rabbit dogs 1 Link to post

Unpredictable than others? And I'm sure a bull x would do a hell lot more damage 2 Link to post

hare_n_hounds 157
I'm the same, owned collie greys . But have round many of them to be timid or one thing or another.. I now own a petterdalead a beagle, and considering a bull grey collie grey.. seen many good dogs, of all xs, it's how there reared I suppose is what counts, not necessarily their 'make up'. Sweeney 316
I agree in a way, but then there not bred for a "household pet" I have considered having one as of late. My kennels are sectioned off with a fence so there's no way the kids can get near them. After all they are working dogs I don't want the mrs and kids f***ing about with them. But if I was to get a bull x the 1st thing I would do for the 1st year is get that pup around my kids and other dogs from day 1 as often as possible ! Same as I would do with any breed. Although I would make extra effort with a bull x. Like I said I'm no expert with the breed but common sense tells you socilise from a pup. If you want a lurcher for working/pet I wouldn't be going for a bull x that's for damm sure. 1 Link to post
