quagmire 6
Hi I have two ponds on one of my permissions which I feed and shoot the ducks and the occasional Teal and have done so for about three seasons now. However after a good start to this season I have not seen a duck on either for several weeks. The food I leave isnt getting eaten, I have tried different feed but nothing is working. Also I have not seen as many ducks flying about in general either. The canadas are proving ellusive aswell as Iam used to seeing them fly about a lot around my area (Cheshire). I realise that the ducks arwe getting shot all around but I have not seen so few numbers before, so I was just wondering if anyone else has seen a reduction in numbers. Thanks in advance for your time Joe

Thanks in advance for your time Joe Hi Joe I have a good pond which has shot very well over the past two seasons but this year the mallard only use it as a day roost (often circa 30 on there during the day) then don't come in at night - annoying! There are lots of teal this year which makes up for it but i am puzzled why the mallard have changed their habits. I am in east Shropshire so not a million miles from Cheshire - maybe the wet spring affected the hatch rate?
quagmire 6
Hi Thanks for the replies. There is an established shoot nearby which has recorded lower numbers of ducks than normal as well so maybe it has just been a slow year. I have not seen any ducks on the ponds during the day either, as for Teal I shot two about three weeks ago but they were the only two I have ever seen on either ponds in the three seasons I have been feeding them. I will keep an eye on them and post any new results. Cheers again Joe
