macker71165 5
am a bit hesitant to ask this question on a hunting forum but i asked this question on a another forum whith some great replies which help me! i got a rifle in october (a gamo socom 1000) so am pretty new to this shooting malarky! i have been practising in my yard shooting cans and busting a old washing machine to bits! and i really love it!! just got a (weihrauch hw95k and nikko sterling scope) for xmas! now i know that am a long way off from shooting something that moves! but i do enjoy watching the hunting videos on youtube etc! (shame on me) but sometime reality kicks in and i ponder why would i want to kill a live animal? whether it be pest or game! i mean they aint my pests or bothering me! and i really dont think i could eat rabbit?..so really it would be for just enjoyment in the name of sport!!!! but deep down feel its wrong! did you feel like this? i mean i really enjoyed blasting the old washing machine in fact i loved it i was beside myself with the carnage! thinking maybe i should just shoot targets? but here in liverpool theirs plenty of shooting but not of the legal kind! (bad joke) did you feel bad on your first kill?? and how did you justify it? am the sort of person who gets a glass and cardboard to remove a spider! atb tony! Quote Link to post

youcanthide...BANG 1,051
When i first did it i felt guilty, same as alot of people probably did. As bad as it sounds you kind of forget about it the more you do it However even now i still dont feel good about killing something, its a biproduct of the sport, something thats got to happen, so i try not to think about, but in saying that i get disheartened if i come home from a hunt and havent had a kill. 4 Quote Link to post

Hot Meat 3,109
Killed a trout at around 5, fried it up on the bank with an uncle and have never felt bad about anything if killed. There again I don't kill for nothing and like to think what I waste is minimal. 2 Quote Link to post

gosling1960 191
You can justify it easily if you eat it, and you killed it cleanly. 3 Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
My mate got me into shooting. I didn't even know what a wild rabbit looked like, let alone that there was some quite near my house I thought they only lived in the countryside but when he shot the first one I saw it do a backflip and thought "whoa"!!!! then it just lay there motionless and I was like.. well nothing wrong with that as long as you eat it. we had some stew and I was hooked sometimes when im lining up on the animal and you can see individual feathers on its head or its cleaning itself or you see it blinking and looking at you you feel like your playing god giving it the right to live or die. but if your shooting it to eat then I don't feel guilty. 3 Quote Link to post

Keep enjoying shooting the washing machine....doesn't sound like your cut out for the other stuff. Especially if you've no interest in eating it or it's not a pest....? 2 Quote Link to post
