mthwrchrd 0
Hi, I'm new to Lurchers and moreover working dogs and the wider culture surrounding them. I have a Beddlington Bitch (granitor lines), which I got purely as a pet w. my girlfriend nearly 4 years ago. Increasingly that’s really enthused me in pursuit of getting a lurcher and more specifically a Beddy Whippet x (or on investigation; A deerhound greyhound x beddy/whippet/greyhound) that i can work. As I'm not embedded in the culture in any way, I'm wondering if any one has advice on what lines and which breeders to focus on and contact? I've heard a lot about David Platt bred dogs as well as Poachers pocket lurchers, and they look like superbly built dogs that i'd want to work on. I live in Glasgow (also based in North West England) but am prepared to travel the UK and, in future would like to get involved in field sport with both the dogs (that thesable with an untrained pet of 4?). Any tips would be fantastic Cheers, a novice Matthew Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
Good offer there. If everyone who wanted to get into hunting was able to find a good sensible mentor, there'd be a lot less idiots in the game and far fewer dogs passed around. 2 Quote Link to post

Country Joe 1,411
if that Granitor strain beddy Bitch was useful, and you put a good Whippet stud across it, you could end up with this. 2 Quote Link to post
