Guest Scuba1
living here I do miss the " bull rush hearts"... Its the bit in the middle, where the plant starts to spread. Its abit smelly, when you pull them out of the mud, but once cleaned and prepared, they are great.

juckler123 707
Pignuts are nice Aye it took me ages to find the nut but once you get the knack they are tasty one of the best wild foods for munching early in the year. not very good pics there off a mobile. Scuba1 theres a lot you can do with the bullrush and like you say there stems low down are tasty enough. Jack by the hedge is done now its garlic mustard great young leaves for a wild salad. Hobb&jill Kreet dont go eating anything you cant properly identify mate theres plenty out there that not do you any good mate especially the shrooms. All the above are good snacking tackle mate but the bullrush stems are better cooked.
