Giro 2,648
Coursing dogs fetch more due to potential money from matches and cups. If some one paid 10k for a bitch, they wont sell pups for £100.. Folk are desperate for dogs out of top dogs.. Wont be a enough pups, prices can sore.. I would pay decent money for a lamping dog, if I really thought it was going to be worth it.. Loads are chomping at the bit for a pup off of that crow.. The man could charge his price and lads are more and happy to pay it.. Edited December 26, 2013 by Giro 1 Link to post
TOMO 26,222
Crow,, what's that giro? Is it a coursing dog? Link to post
socks 32,253
Exactly the prices are far higher for a coursing dog because there is money to be made in the field BUT that doesn't mean that the honest hard working lamping dog that's putting away 40's and 50's two or three times a week is worth any less ... If the match element crept into lamping then the prices would sky rocket ... Hopefully that will never happen as lamping is about getting out with your dog and putting game away not betting on who's dog will catch the most ......... 9 Link to post

Giro 2,648
Aye but don't ask me anything about it lol.. One of the coursing lads will have o shed more light on it.. Link to post
Giro 2,648
I would pay £400 £500 for a decent lamper.. Hancock charges £250 for a pup.. Get one at 16 months old all sing all dancing would be well worth the coin, If that's your thing. I have never went for adult dogs but would expect to pay more.. My old dogs 9/10 I would pay 1000 pound, If I could clone it.. Still catches twenty odd every time its out.. 1 Link to post

bunnys 1,228
Why should a coursing dog cost more than a lamper ??? ......... fair point ken, both if good at there jobs, will give the owner the same pleasure from each dog.Its just as hard to keep+feed+fit a lamping dog ,doing 2-3 nights a week on all quarry that it sees, as a top coursing dog doing 4 from 4 2-3 days a week. And yet a top coursing dog can knock couple grand , and lamping dog 2-400 quid if your lucky ive never really understood why a would say preban a lamp dog taking good bags of rabbs PLUS all edible 2 ta 3 nights per week ,his a very valuable animal and could demand a very high price to the right said persons .few and far between .atb bunnys.
