**SEVERE WEATHER WARNING** Please share Valid from/until: 17:20 – 09:00GMT on Thursday 26th/Friday 27th December 2013 for the following regions of the United Kingdom & Eire: England; Wales; parts of Scotland IoM N Ireland Eire Channel Islands THREATS Isolated tornadoes; wind gusts to 60-75mph; occasional CG lightning SYNOPSIS Another deep, intense Atlantic storm will approach the British Isles overnight, pushing its active frontal system east and north-east. Whilst strong pressure gradient winds may approach and exceed severe criteria overnight and throughout Friday in places, the focus of convectively-enhanced wind gusts is likely to be the active cold front, which will move east and north-east overnight. The portion of the cold front beneath the left exit of the approaching jet streak, namely northern parts of Eire, N Ireland and SW Scotland/Cumbria, may become electrically active as deep lifting of the dry intrusion steepens lapse rates above the low-level moisture plume. Further south and east the front should be shallower, but high resolution models depict a mixture of line convection and broken segments. With strong low-level wind shear along the length of the front, a few tornadoes seem possible. However, the limiting factor should be limited instability. The highest risk may be across N Eire, N Ireland, and perhaps IoM/Cumbria and SW Scotland, where deeper convection is possible.
