neil cooney 10,416
Was very glad we had a bar in the jeep on Wednesday. Collar failed as soon as the terrier entered resulting in a walk back for a bar , ears to the ground, a 6 foot deep by 15 foot long trench and 3 hours later a successful conclusion that I'm sure would have resulted in a lost terrier otherwise. Can't understand why anyone would bad mouth the bar, LOL. Quote Link to post

Jesus Neil your at it long enough not to be trenching, did you lose the old ways that quick(LOL)You should be able to pinpoint better than that without a FIFTEEN FOOT TRENCH.Just back from a dig(with a locator)and I still used the bar.I think some old timers are showing there age.If you want to tag along someday(and serve your time carrying the gear)I will teach you how to do it again. 1 Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
No back peddling Jigsaw. Just so happens that there was a bar in the vehicle from the good ol' days, OH, and didn't I mention it was windy, that's why we needed the bar ,LOL, we couldn't hear him. Seriously though, Liam the reason we trenched on was because the terrier killed the fox and moved on by the time we reached him. He'd gone 8 or 9 foot further on and killed again. Hence all the trenching. It was a big place and well able to take it. I hope I don't need to use the wretched thing for another 4 or 5 seasons (I mean the bar not the terrier ). Quote Link to post

To late Neil your street cred is gone, the only wind i heard today was me panting and huffing after two minutes on the shovel.I hope Fatman does not hear about this. 2 Quote Link to post

In the vehicle from the good ol days, you've just recently purchased a different vehicle so hands up and admit you put it there just incase and was',nt it just aswell, ive always said, better to be looking at it than for it,and anyway i seen you use a bar for years so dont be fibbing. 1 Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
LOL, I can get away with nothing. Yes, the bar was in the vehicle in case of back up and just as well too. But I stand by what I've said before about bars. They're handy but they are the most over used piece of kit. I hope this means i still have a bit of street cred, LOL. Quote Link to post

I would think everyone that digs is in agreement with you FD,but as has happened can happen at any given time and its usually on a wet, windy miserable day or in a deep earth, yes the locater has saved manys the terriers life but in saying that i never lost a terrier to ground pre-locater,touch wood.
