Mag Collars

Recommended Posts

it says there non sensational, so the pulse must be what there saying does the business so to speak :hmm:

How it works

By pulsing an electro-magnetic field at set frequencies, various different aspects of the bodies control system can be altered to provide pain relief in the first stages of treatment, allied to minimising bruising and swelling at the injury site. Efficient and effective control in the early stages can considerably assist in minimising the length of treatment time required during the later healing stage.

The Porta-Mag is a non-sensational treatment system which causes no discomfort during any stage of treatment.

Wether it be the collars or the mag box, I have definitely seen an improvement in my dogs by using them, and also I take offence to people trying to ridicule those that do believe they work, and no

Truth is no one in this discussion is qualified or an expert in this subject ,all you can go on is your own thoughts after using one ,i have and i think it works ,good enough for me

I wouldn't in my wildest dreams try and argue with you Sandy mere With your 'big' words and rapier sharp wit and condescending humour I would stand no chance! I'm a just a working class man who like

do mag box's produce any heat ??

No just a pulsation

wonder what their feeling to make them want to go in, its like when i put the heat lamp on or change their bedding they go mad to get onto the bedboard, is it the magnet or the fact they lay still and content that aids healing like a heat lamp :hmm:

Thats what I was wondering, I have never had experience with one. Whatever it is if they do work for dogs its definitely interesting!

Basically any quiet warm area will aid healing and dogs will like to go there especially if tired or sore. I'll not deny that at some point in the future there may be therapeutic benefits from a variety of "fields technologies" but these are very different from what the market has to offer at the moment, bit like sticking a magnet onto a pair of binoculars and calling it an MRI scanner or microwaving children to stop them feeling pain lol.

As to my qualifications to discuss this area, I’m not an engineer but I do have plenty of clinical experience.

I’ll expand a little on my interest in alternative medicine

A young woman presents with odd symptoms sent in for review as ? migraine ?? First instance looks ok, but quickly notice a disturbance of speech, the odd word out of synch and a slight unilateral weakness. Migraines can present with very odd symptoms but this isn’t right. I go through the standard sort of questions about previous health. This elicits a history of recent thoracic back pain and a visit to the chiropractor the day before. My heart sinks as I ask the question I fear I already know the answer too. Did they carry out a neck manipulation? Patient replies yes they had, the patient had considered it a bit odd as the pain was lower down but hadn’t thought to question the back cracker. I didn’t need to hear any more, I knew to just request an urgent MRI head. The MRI confirmed what I had guessed, a stroke due to a ruptured blood vessel at the base of the skull. What do you say to a girl in her twenties with such a diagnosis???

http://www.theguardian.com/science/blog/2012/apr/27/chiropractic-manipulation-spine-strokes

Then the case I mentioned before, lived down the road, terminal cancer and rheumatoid arthritis, admitted with hypothermia twice before she died, couldn’t afford to put her heating on, spent hundreds of pounds on “alternative magnetic and electrical gadgets” believed in all the sales pitch and so thought it better to spend her last few pounds on the promise of a cure rather than on heating. A scared, lonely and vulnerable lady who was conned out of any last physical comfort to make a profit for a quack.

I could go on, the septic patient, cellulites, who nearly died because they stuck with homeopathy rather than real medicine until they almost died etc etc.

So if I seem a little anti alternative medicine it because I see the fall out, remember there isn’t two types of medicine alternative and main stream, there’s just medicine and that has to demonstrate it works, if it can’t it isn’t medicine its just a rip off. Due to all this I’m a member of the Nightingale Collaboration, http://www.nightingale-collaboration.org/ the bad science forum http://www.badscience.net/forum/ and a fan of Science Based medicine. http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/.

And if anyone really wants an expert theres a professor of complimentary medicine Professor Edzard Ernst MD, PhD, FMedSci, FSB, FRCP, FRCPEd

Emeritus Professor, Exeter University.

And he has a blog. http://edzardernst.com/about/ it’s a good blog.

Now I’m off to get a magnet to hold the shopping list on the fridge, perhaps it will heal the pork chops inside.

Ps There’s been a couple on here accused me of talking Shite, if what I say is shite then there’s a lot of very knowledgeable shitters out there and I'm proud to be one of them LOLOLOL.

Are but can they understand the information being pasted??? Knowledge is knowledge, the art is understanding how to find it, evaluate it and use it. Its validity is what's important not how or where it was found. then of course being able to back ones opinions and theories with good sources of information, by cut and past or how ever, is considered pretty much necessary in just about every area of science/health. I find it odd that others seem unable to grasp the idea of this.
