I had a similar problem where my dog would run around me or not come right into me with the ball or dummy. So a wise old guy I know told me to do retrieval training somewere narrow where the dig can only come to you or run the opposite direction. I started at the local snicket then progressed to the pennine trail is slightly wider then in the wood then thr open field. Got there in the end. Good luck.

as above just start with small short throws with lots of praise then build up the yardage just keep doing this and in no time will be n it

Yeah I fully agree with mushroom subdue the dog to a minor beating and if it gets worse then up the anti. Atvb

Reward it everytime it retreives in the house with a bit of ham or something similar for a few days and then try again outside!

Had three good retrieves with pup ....... I tried her up the ginall with the gate shut about 16 yards ......

you can also throw the ball behind you and send the pup.As he picks it up keep walking away and as he comes in crouch down and make a fuss of him.If he picks something up in the house you don;t want him to.Exchange for a toy.Never tell him off.Enjoy your pup
