Born Hunter 17,775
So does anybody have any Xmas shoot traditions? I try to make sure that we have an organised walk about durring the Xmas week. Ours is this Saturday and there should be half a dozen of us for an informal do just walking stubles and knocking in hedgerows and set-a-side. That's what this holiday is about for me! Anybody else have a Xmas/NY tradition?

BRY 79
We were told the same, Beaters day brought forward to the 4th Jan as they had a few really good days. But now the Greedy b*****ds have changed it back to the 1st feb . When they said we can have beaters day on the 4th Jan ( to make sure theres birds for us to shoot, we were happy as can be ) Last shoot day there were a lot of Guest guns and a few were taking birds on the end of their barrels , no need for that as they have got some high birds on all the drives. Born Hunter 17,775
Well it turned into a bit of a 'do', six good lads turned up and enjoyed a long walked up day. Final bag was a mix of partridge, pheasant, duck and one pigeon totalling 19 head. Supposed to just be a boundary walk about but ended up doing a few of our lesser drives that have all but dried up which was good. A lot of hedges, nooks and crannies we didn't get to. My terrier found a fox fast asleep in a very rough ditch and had a bit of a tear up with it eventually running it to ground, 15 mins later I'd got her out as it didn't look like bolting and I couldn't hold the day up. Thoroughly enjoyable day!
danw 1,748
Well the small family day I had to put on ended up 9 guns, 6 drives, 97 pheasants, 34 partridge, 2 woodcock so 133 total for 1450 shots in their defence it was an inexperienced team of young guns and it was blowing 25 to 30mph most the day. Born hunter and Hutchey the last week of the season I'm having a couple of boundary days no dates confirmed yet but as soon as I can confirm I'll PM them your more than welcome to pop down
