My turkish grandfather who had salukis, would never dream of crossing them with anything, he kept the line pure for filling the pot and getting skins for selling.

The fastest and best hunter survived to live, the ones that did not were shot. A lot of the arabs now, just leave them in the streets, saluki rescues over their pick them up all the time...
