Use field craft, and never go ferreting with people with verbal diarrhea. Basically the same as I do now.

linner ferrets mate. usally a big feck off hob on a long length/ball of string. i bet ferreting was hard going them days i know one thing for sure i wouldnt have like to have been on the shovel for the local terrier men pre locator days.

Avoid the really big places that way they act as like feeders for the smaller warrens making sure to provide food and sport for the following year.

a good dog would always give a strong indication of the nearest point of the rabbit

had a whippet once that would on occasions crown a ferret never had another dog do it mind

the same as i have done on 90% of my ferreting trips.....use field craft set up nets silent downwind and use your loaf where you can ferret and cant...and a 6-8ft lenth of barbed wire has saved the day many times........ and as you have guessed i dont have a locator

I used a liner ferret for years and take it from me

it is bloody hard work.

I have a bitch that does exactly the same she will never leave a set if

there are rabbits still in there I have been ferreting for 60 years and she is

the best I have had and the second best I have ever seen the best being

a bitch that my dad had
