BOLIO1 1,078
About 35 years ago I was using a wee k.c. whippet called Daisy....(poofy name....I know)..... for ferreting and lamping. An old pal told me he would take me on some permission he had up near the north coast, but there were so many rabbits that I should leave Daisy at home...she'd never stick the graft. Well I brought her along and she ran, turn about, with his lurcher bitch all night. We had a good bag and the last field had a chain link fence about 3 1/2 feet high across the section beside the motor. I jumped over in my usual athletic manner in those days, as did Matt, and I gave Daisy the "come hither", to which she responded by leaping easily over the fence and coming to hand. Matt's lurcher bitch however, remained in the field, requiring him to renegotiate the fence and lift her over while muttering darkly under his breath. On the other hand, if I was out after foxes or hares I would have left Daisy by the fire....horses for courses! 1 Quote Link to post

lifelong cumbrian 1,826
My mate has 2, a nimrodel and a Mike Brown one, both great little dogs and very keen, good makers ferreting, will huntup well. The MB one is not really that small at 22 1/2". I like them, would have one myself but have small lurchers instead but might try a pure whippet nexttime. 1 Quote Link to post

Every one seems to say the whippet and the whippet/bedlingtons have a good temperament. Mine used to be placid and calm as any thing certainly some thing I want in my next dog. Instead of the crazy cocker curled up on me feet farting the house out the little sod 2 Quote Link to post
