Katsdad 31
New to ferreting so I need some advice. Have rats under the chicken house if I send the ferrets under there will they sort them,ie either kill them or flush the rattys out so either we can sot them or the dogs catch them? This will be the first time the ferrets have hunted so it will be a learning curve for everyone Any tips much appreciated Tim Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
Ferrets should bolt them Some will, some won't.... Quote Link to post
Moll. 1,770
I presume you have a rat set under the house. I doubt very much the ferret will enter the set for long, and the rats will just stay low, a good ratting ferret is pretty rare. Quote Link to post
pip1968 2,490
when i had ferrets years ago mine were mainly used for ratting and we used to get big numbers doing it this way just pop the ferret in and stand back the rats should bolt but expect some cuts on the ferret if one decides to stay Quote Link to post
thenetter 37
I personally wouldn't put a newby ferret in after rats, there may be a nasty big doe rat with young in there. Quote Link to post
xHOUNDx 33
Bad way to start them, don't want them getting smashed up first time down, a decent ferret with experience will sort them out 1 Quote Link to post
The one 8,479
As said no a ideal start for ferrets 1 Quote Link to post
dogger 100
better smoking them out and let terriers sort them out 1 Quote Link to post
Mole man Kent 26
If it's the first time your guna work em you could put them off working again if they have a bad experience as the rat will put up a good fight. Your choice though mate Quote Link to post
