Ripstop 89
Deerhunter mate, but there are alternatives, Solognac for one, ive heard Good stuff about this brand. heres a few links. PANTS SUPERTRACK 500 GREEN SOLOGNAC - Trousers Solognac - On sale at Decathlon.co.uk Solognac - Brands - On sale at Decathlon.co.uk Or Carharrtt for toughness, but they arnt waterproof. The Carharrtt Chore coat, ive one and its proper tough. I paid about 50 quid new for mine, so you can look about and get decent stuff cheap. Quote Link to post
BellySlater 15
For what it's worth here's my view...... Deerhunter seems to be pretty crap. I had the Ram jacket (original one not the new "lighter" version). It was very warm and comfy and certainly shower proof. Beating all day in heavy rain however was a nightmare, the material soaks up the rain so the hem and sleeve cuffs were totally soaked to the point of ringing out very half hour. It was straight on ebay after that. I have since purchased a Harkila pro hunter - totally different class ( I appreciate its a totally different price bracket) Seeland is owned by Harkila so i also went out and got the Seeland Woodcock jacket for the warmer days - totally waterproof and does not need wringing out. Seeland over Deerhunter any day. If you want something totally waterproof try Rivers West or Cabela's, I have a RW wild fowling coat with a10 year waterproof guarantee and it's the "mutts", tend to sweat up a bit though as its not breathable. Was out in all sorts over the Xmas break and can't fault it whatsoever 1 Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,101
I had the same problem with the deerhunter ram jacket,I am looking around now for some new gear, but it is a case of finding the right brands, you know the one's, the one's without 200% markup, cos seriously they take the p*** in this country with clothes, Quote Link to post
Lewis Ste 245
Ridgeline torrent, great jacket Quote Link to post

Then there is the Stealth gear extreme, do a search. Ripstop, have you used either of these yourself? Or anybody else got experience of these? I bought a Hoggs of Fife 'waterproof' jacket from Countrywide a couple of weeks back and am going in there this afternoon to try and get my money back - waterproof, my arse. On a gentle hour long dog walk in steady (but not torrential) rain with my daughter a couple of days ago, the inside of the coat was damp by the time we got back. And a day or two before Christmas I was out for a few hours in pretty heavy rain by the end of which I was soaked to the skin. Quote Link to post
shootlodge 146
If you can find one, a 'Shark ' Nordstorm it will make the rest seem like a nylon cagool Quote Link to post
Ripstop 89
Seeland beater or keeper are good jackets as allrounders, waterproof and tough. Other than that I wouldnt risk buying seeland gear again and loosing money. Ive not used the Stealth gear, but a few on here have great reviews for them and the Jahti Jakt Stuff. The solognac have top reviews as well, You tube the Jackets mentioned as there is normally some good tests to see for yourself. I use The flexothane, bit sweaty, only 2 pockets, but never ever leaked, 20 quid, they stretch and are very very strong. I take one with me if it ever pours down they roll up small, then buy a decent jacket to go underneith, best of both worlds. Quote Link to post
Ripstop 89
FLEXOTHANE CLASSIC OLIVE JACKET - BRAND NEW | eBay Give it a try, read reviews, used by farmers in all weathers for over 20 years, rolls up into a game pockets with my army bib n brace, and still barely notice them.
