Out of interest What pain killers were they ?

I no its part of the game lads its the bad part i have had this 1st hand i gave him the same advice i got don't pack in just get back out there i spoke to him this morning as he was on the way to the vet with the dog don't know the outcome as yet but my guess is he has been pts.

metacam is an anti inflammatory and a mild to moderate pain killer

well it worked Paul and that's all I had to hand pal its better than nothing the lad is waiting on the xray from vets as we speak but at least the dog will be more comfortable than I could make it

To any young hunters out there.......

 

IF your dog breaks a leg while out lamping go straight to the vets or take matters into our own hands.

 

DO NOT leave a dog to suffer over night for the sake of £100.

i broke my lower leg moto x accident hurt for a few minutes then no pain until i moved,so possible when dog settled it was pain free.

Same here bedx broke both my arms at different times,,, hurts like hell whilst you move it,,, but stay still you don't feel a thing,,,..

 

Was talking to vin about this one night,, when one of the dogs cought a rabbit,, and the rabbit had a horrible break in its leg,, this prompted a discution about if a dog broke its leg,,, he would go straight to the vet,,, I would pts,,

immobilisation would be a must, it would reduce the risk of further damage either to the bone / bones or any associated ligaments, tendons, blood vessels, a simple splint could / may suffice but ensure a good distal ( beyond the injury) pulse / blood supply must be present and monitored as swelling may occlude blood vessels, do not try any reduction (putting the bone / bones back in the right place) unless you REALLY know what your doing as it may do more harm than good, if obvious internal bleeding / severe swelling elevate the limb if possible, tourniquets are old hat and should be released intermittently if used to help ensure perfusion / blood supply, if the bleed wasn't too serious hopefully it would clot and stop or at least lessen to a manageable level, but above all for all that your dog does for you get to a vet asap

I had a bad one last night started great 2 runs 2 in the bag dog was running like dynamite then out of nowhere I was being lamped :/ end of night and still picking the thorns out me legs now and tore the brand new muck boots the mother in law bought that I wernt sposed to have till xmas

its not 100quid tho is it mate runs into 000s just for the pain killer its 300quid exrays and the rest another 500 so if youe not got a grand in the bank or no insurance you do what you can and if you carnt do that you have to pts i love it how lads get on n just say get to the vets as sometimes there no eans of payment expecially with xmas aswell its just skint me getting a lad back end rebuilt 2800quid and if i was ever in that situation again it would have just been pts

I know some dogs recover well and go onto work for the rest of there lives,, but sadly lots don't ...
