instead of trying to take the piss gaz give him some advice

Main thing is you've stuck by the dog and seem happy. That in itself is an achievment i'd say.

You still need to remember to incorporate recall training whilst using the collar, otherwise you may end up having use the collar for life. If he is responding this well to the vibration it sounds like he will be easy enough to train without the collar now. Good luck and well done for your continued efforts

like some of the constructive advice you got when you asked the fact the lad hasnt put it on gumtree at the first sign of any problems like alot would and as tried to address them and by asking on here shows he wants to do the best by it but you trying to belittle him on here is not going to help him is it

got a bitch with the same breeding she had trouble hunting up on the lamp first few times i tried her but after persistance from me on and off the lamp with recall i think she realized quicker she's back quicker she'll get another run and now she's fine. As annoying as it is when they do it i think key is just be calm and keep trying. this has helped me personally, not saying it will help you out in your situation but may be of some use .

Very nice looking dog btw

smart looking mutt  .........as for the retrieving / recall, without the collar he would sense your anger / frustration, downward spiral................now your the boss, if he messes up, instant reminder, no anger or frustration the dog will want to come back, with no early basics the poor dog didn't know better, some folks would have given up, some wouldn't have recognised the problem, your doing ok......go easy on the collar and always carry a big bag of patience and i'll bet he comes good

I've had 7 years of piss taking and belittling from wannabe hunters who in reality do very little.

Constructive advice? I've not had much of that as you well know.

There's a handful of good blokes on here who give me help and advice and I speak to them off the forum.

This place is jokers paradise now and is used by most for a bit of a laugh and a piss take. If that's not welcomed then I will be off cuz it's not much use for much else.

You have a marked improvement fella..

I said straight off to use the collar.. Really good training aid when other stuff is failing..

I only used mine for stock breaking.. Have used it for recall but never actually zapped - just used the noise setting.

I am struggling with a retrieve at the moment .. I have been getting some advice of Jim Greenwood .. I drove down to Chester from Cumbria - You would be closer I am guessing..

You are half way there if the dogs retrieving sometimes or half way..

I bet that Jim would get you, getting the dog to retrieve.

I Thought I was Cesar Malan before this   I have had 3 lurchers before this dog that retrieved like yoyos..

If you can fix the dog with help that's what makes you a better dogman.. Easy to make do or give up ..

That's a real good offer from Hotmeat :victory:
