Deano88 9
Hi All, As above title says, has anybody got experience of owning/using any Benelli or Fabarm semi-autos? i.e do they cycle well etc. I am left handed and will be looking to aquire a semi auto in the new year sometime and looking on guntrader, it seems Fabarm and Benelli are the most common. They are also a few Hatsan's on there but have not been impressed with them when I have had the chance to use them. Main purpose for the gun will be rough shooting so not too fussed about having fixed choke, just want something that cycles well with most cartridges Thanks in advance Quote Link to post
toby63 1,236
benelli are very good i have the super black eagle never let me down .easy to strip and clean .people have trouble with hatsans. 1 Quote Link to post
trenchfoot 4,243
Never had trouble with cycling a benelli. 30g cartridges work a treat. Fabarm are gas operated, and can be more sensitive. Some have a reversible gas valve in the for end for lighter or heavier loads, which suggests there is no happy medium. Also if the benelli doesn't suit you, you will always get a good price on a trade in or sale. Not the case with a Fabarm Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Out of the two, the Benelli if you can afford it. They're about as reliable and well made as you'll find a Semi-Auto. Quality is very much on a par with Beretta and Browning. Fabarm I have no experience of in S/A but their Over and Unders are well made, The Fabarm's value won't hold as well as the Benelli though, Quote Link to post
Deano88 9
Thanks chaps, Will have a look at a couple of Benelli's in the new year. Have seen a few second hand on guntrader for reasonable money. Quote Link to post
The Seeker 3,048
I too have a super black eagle Benelli and it's as reliable as you can get. You do right to avoid the Hatstands they are poor quality. Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
I have a left hand Benneli m1, had it from brand new, never once failed to cycle, they are superb mate, get one. Quote Link to post

j316 119
got an old fabarm never had any trouble recycling even with 28g cart Quote Link to post
David Dey 2
Hi. I had a Benneli M2 that went back to the importer twice because of jamming, then when the barrel started rusting I got shut(a pal of mine has one which also suffers from rust). I bought a Fabarm(left hand) and it has worked perfect with any cartridge, you can also use full choke with steel shot. DD Quote Link to post
Deano88 9
cheers for all the posts lads, seems some pro's and con's with both. They both make some lovely looking shotguns. I Had a look at a Benelli Black eagle being stripped down on youtube and it seems very simple in design compared to my fathers Franchi and browning right handed semi's. Less dirt build up so less maintenance etc. Well I best hope santa leaves some cash for me. Had a chat with the farmer today and Some Rape seed is to be drilled shortly and peas in march so trying to convince myself and the misses that I need this gun to save a farmers livelihood. toby63 1,236
you will not be disapointed with a benelli Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Like everything, you can have a "Friday afternoon" gun if you're very unlucky. Benelli's are very good guns with few bad examples. Quote Link to post
remi700 99
You wont go wrong with either if you stick to those 2 makes. Been shooting fabarms for 5 or 6 seasons. Guy i shoot with has had his 7 or 8 seasons. Another few of my friends shoot them too. Never had a problem with them and we're very hard on autos. Cycle everything from the lightest trap loads to the heaviest goose loads. Great handling guns. Nothing wrong with benellis either although i have seen them jam on lighter loads. To the best of my knowledge fabarm dont make an auto which is 3 1/2" chambered if this is an issue for you. Atb Mark Quote Link to post
