J Darcy 5,871
It's a pup. thats what they do. Avoid rabbits for now. Let him grow up a bit first, then take him places where there's rabbits. On his own. I've never subscribed to all that bollocks about 'let him see another dog run so he'll know what to do'. You don't need to. if you want you and him to become a team then you only need to go out with you and him. When he's ready. And when you're ready. 8 Quote Link to post

birddog 1,354
for me, a pups got to be a pup, i like to let them suss all sorts of sights and smell and different experiences young, its all part of growing up, they'll learn when to hunt up and when to look up if they get a variety of stimuli, again for me, at such an important age a month off would take a long time to catch up Quote Link to post
pernod 466
It might just be me but i love seeing a lurcher use its nose and hunt up (within reason of course). If they have even half a brain they soon learn the difference from whats expected daytime a whats expected under darkness. Pernod 4 Quote Link to post

nothernlite 18,089
nothing better than going out during the day watching your dog hunt then mark for the ferrets then going out at night and coming straight back to the sliip after a miss think having a we bit patience is needed for you to get your dog to that standard 2 Quote Link to post
