Saluki246 1,053
In greyhound racing, all greyhounds are tested at random for drugs, if they have any in their system, they are out. Pre-ban and over here in ireland, how would anyone know, if the lurcher about to run in a hare coursing comp/match, is drug free? All the matches ect that were ran, how does anyone know, if these dogs were not pumped full of all sorts, to keep them going ect? Were they tested before a match, or comp? 1 Quote Link to post

arcticgun 4,548
you only cheat yourself and risk the dogs health, plain stupidity your average joe blogs putting roids performance enhancers into an animal that cannot let you know the effects , proper sham in my book , in athletics and bodybuilding they employ scientists to sort regimes etc out your average man would have no clue and more likely to do damage imho 2 Quote Link to post

My question was, how does anyone know, the dogs that won matches ect in the passed, have not been doped up? Not saying all were, but who is to know some did? I guess its hard to know? All to do with trust prehaps? Quote Link to post
Maximus Ferret 2,063
I think that in greyhound racing drugs were mainly used to slow down a good dog until it was graded into poor company or given better odds - then it was allowed to do the business with big money on it at the last minute. That's my point, who knows?? Not just talking about the dog you mentioned, as i am not fishing, just talking in general. Who knows what dog was and what dog was clean? Personally, i would never do it, as ag said, your only cheating your self, would not make me proud, that's for sure, plain and simple cheating. Quote Link to post

Over here pre ban coursing greyhounds were tested at the semi final stage of any stake with £500 or more on offer to the winner, (these were urine samples and it could cost upwards of £240 to have the labs test them)the prize money was with held until the results were back. This was only for banned substances. After a run the dogs feet were checked over and cleaned, electrolites were freely given and the dog bedded down (not unknown for OXYGEN to be inhaled through a mask)to await its next run or taken back to kennels if not needed till the following day Y.I.S Leeview 1 Quote Link to post
