Guest whippet
I've got a small roll of 6 strand copper wire and was thinking about seeing if I can make a snare or two for myself, I made a not very good one ages ago using one of those tin airgun pellets with a hole punched through it as an eyelet but it didn't run very freely (as you imagine). So finally getting to the question, where do you get the brass eyelets from? Are they mail order from a specialist or can you get them in DIY/hardware stores? Quote Link to post

Guest whippet
Cheers, I just nicked a crude one from an old pair of trainers I had lying around, although it appears to be steel and is uncoated on the inside so rusting might be a problem. Quote Link to post
Smudge 0
That will do ya. I made some with washersbefore and then found that they where shite :11:  Quote Link to post
Guest whippet
Another simple question; how wide in inches should the noose be for rabbits. Also how far off the ground? Cheers. Quote Link to post
Smudge 0
At this time of year in long grass i would say 4 1/2 to 5 inches and around six inches off the ground. Quote Link to post
Guest whippet
I assume that you mean 6 inches from the top of the snare. As 6 inches from the bottom, seems to me, would require some rather gangly rabbits. Quote Link to post
Smudge 0
No not really. I used to get alot of rabbits in me fox snares and they where set at 9 to 10 inches. I mean from the bottom of the snare to the ground. Quote Link to post
