Hello From A Returning Shooter

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I found this forum thanks to Si P and I am making a return to shooting after many years away messing about on mountain bikes and guitars.

I started shooting aged 8 with an ASI Apache .177 under the close supervision of my dad, who himself was a pretty good shot in his time. I then progressed to a HW77 .22 aged 14 and started hunting on the land we had at the time, a good mix of woodland and fields. The woodies and rabbits were welcome additions to the meal table during the tough 80's. After a few years I started getting permissions from a couple of the local farmers to keep pigeons off their crops during the winter months. Once I discovered girls, beer and bikes shooting fell by the wayside...until now!

I have always had a go at the air rifle and rifle ranges at country fairs and turned out pretty good results (beating the wife's shooting anyway...the only important test!) so I am looking to join a local club in the new year and make a trip to Sandwell Field Sports to have a chat and see what rifle I want :)

Thanks for the warm welcome! I am *almost* wishing xmas out the way so I can splash some cash on a rifle and kit....might be the last spending spree for a while as my first child is on its way! Finding a club that is open odd hours to match my sleep patterns might be in order :)

It has been years since I shot or hunted but reading the great posts on the forum is slowly bringing it all back to me. Just need to put the theory into practice!
