Couple of years ago I spent NYE in a Sanger on the midnight stag in afghan, I was stood staring into the darkness periodically doing checks through the n v gs etc when a radio message squelched throug

I do a Monday to Friday job these days with a Christmas shut-down, but when I worked as a carer I usually worked Christmas day & boxing day , then new years day , folks still have to be cared for

No alternative Xmas for me lad ill be in my home comforts eating a three bird roast and reading outlaw Petes oor willie book since he doesn't want it lol merry Xmas to ya ???

I spent nearly half of my Christmases on tour when I was in the services ... Spent the milenium on a hillside in Kosovo in an over watch position freezing my balls off lol ... I remember one Christmas Day patrolling near the border in Northern Ireland in a place called Middletown .... Normally the locals hated our guts and they used let us know daily ... As we patrolled covered in snow and freezing cold they offered us drinks wished us a merry Christmas ... Feck me almost invited us in a for bit of dinner lol ... Didn't last long though by Boxing Day they fukcing hated us again lol ..........

My cousin was over there diving a white challenger tank at the same time Ken, spent the millennium eve and his 18th birthday there 13 days later..

Oooooo naughty naughty ... He shouldn't have been there at 17 lol ........

Some Very Interesting replies there folks.

Would have replied individually, asking more detail (cos I can be a nosey c**t, but our internet out here is patchy to say the least  )

I 'like the feel of the day' like someone said too, but been away for quite a few over the years now, always been a greedy c**t, and would have offered to work it before, allowing others with kids the chance to be at home. Always got paid extra for doing it.

Do I get the favour returned.....Do I f**k  ....... Do I get extra now for being here....Nope! :censored:

I have a lot of time and respect for those who care for others, be they nurses, carers, fire men, soldiers etc. at any time of the year, but always seem to think about those people more at Christmas, Good On Ya if that's you.

Well compared to those mentioned above that do us all a service on xmas day/holidays, my story sounds easy.

But id say Most will relate seeing as we all have animals of some kind lol Last xmas i had 5 dogs (2 being pups) and had my mum and sister to mine for dinner, so that was an easy normal xmas. Just feeding dogs and exercising them as usual.

This year i find myself having the same 5 dogs, 2 pigs, chickens and ducks - which all have to be let out at different times, fed morning afternoon and night, cleaned out twice a day. And having to time dinner and visits in between..

SO while most are chomping on a turkey breast ill be shovelling shite :laugh:

Isnt it great us having animals - even tho its xmas they still need attention (feckers)
