Dog Crates/cages

Recommended Posts

Our 4 small dogs sleep in a large crate all night - no problems. They all trot in there quite happily at bedtime. We've also got a large one in the back of the car, but only leave them there as short a time as possible, and that's really only for safety, while I'm driving

I think that as long as they're not used excessively, or as a punishment, they're fine, but owners should think about why they're using a crate and whether there is a better alternative. (For example, if the dog's chewing, give it a bone!)

Just my opinion !

Used to leave mine in all day (3 dogs for at least 10 hours) but the feckers kept escaping so in the end I suspended it from the ceiling like a medieval cage. Drilled a hole in one corner with a bucket beneath to catch the piss never any problems

 That does sound medieval!

I also like to poke them with a stick to get them game before a scratch

Once they mature and the chewing stops, and yes mine gets bones, and he can be trusted, the crate gets put away, replaced by dog bed.

How old are they before this stage?

Father in Laws Jack Russel Cross is chewing f**k out of EVERYTHING!!

It's about 7-8 months now......maybe it's just going to be a little c**t!
