MikeTheDog 153
Apparently due to the wet summer, mosquito numbers have risen and are spreading it Don't like myxy or mozy's Flea's spread the disease, more of a problem in Spring and Autumn with warm and wet conditions down underground. stevoman 4
there was an area i was hunting at the start of the year. it was literally like watership down. i had never seen so many rabbits in one area. well after the worst summer in over 40 years here in ireland the mixy has obliterated all of them. was out there yesterday. a one year old terreir was able to run them down and they were looking so sick it was unbeleivable. i put a few ferrets into the burrows but all we gor was one dead rabbit with mixy. there nothing left. its very sad Quote Link to post

Wouldnt mozy's spread it too? If they transfer blood then that would do it. Do mozys bite bunnys then? Quote Link to post
weejohn 3
this year is the worst i have ever seen mixy, 3 months ago i could drive a 1 mile track everyday to my farm and count 70-90 bunnies in the afternoon and now i am lucky to see 10 and 7 of them would have mixy. i wish i shot all the bunnies back then but i wanted to wait till they had grown so i could sell them. MikeTheDog 153
Just my opinion but I don't reckon mozy's are a problem for long/thick haired animals, flea's and tick's are resident parasites to the humble coney. Quote Link to post
Herdsman 0
Seems to be rife here at present, very sad sight in some places. Quote Link to post
mynirvana 1
we havent had much at all around most of out premissions, but there has been one farm where every other rabbit has mixy and another farm where theres a couple, nothing to worry about to much yet though, lets hope it doesnt spread though. Tommy Gunn 0
I understud it is spread by most biting insects as a blood infection. A friend of mine lost all 6 of there pet bunny's to it this year and they didn't mix with the wild population, and were de-flea'd so it must have been spread by mosi's or fly's. Quote Link to post
MikeTheDog 153
There are flea's everywhere, they jump on your feet from the grass and hop off soon as they find something warmer. Hedgehog's/cat's/dog's could have passed the flea's on or even a fox!...If you have pet rabbits you need to vacinate them, or put them in the pot before they catch it... Quote Link to post
